Research Projects

The mainstay of UNC IPRC activities is the research program. The Center places particular emphasis on prevention research, though we also examine acute care delivery and rehabilitation services for injured persons. Epidemiological research on violence, occupational injury, and recreational and home injury remain key areas of investigation. IPRC has established important national leadership in three areas: youth labor, child abuse and neglect, and sports injury, as well as maintaining strong research programs devoted to intimate partner violence and other types of occupational injury.

During the past year, the Center received 3.4 million dollars in new funding, representing a 61% increase over the previous year. In addition, we give major attention to engaging students in the field and currently support more than a dozen graduate students involved in injury research. Short summaries of recent and current research activities are listed below in topical groupings.
