This site was created to make information from the report Injuries to North Carolina Children and the Role of SAFE KIDS more accessible to you.  The report, utilizing the most recent data to date, captures the extent of unintentional childhood injury in North Carolina.  Much of the information presented in the report and some of the information on this site is compared with information contained in a previous SAFE KIDS report from the year 2000.  These comparisons serve to give a context in which to view these results.  Click the Data button on the left to get a brief description of how the data were obtained and to gain access to downloadable graphs and figures for use in reports and presentations.

In addition to the picture of childhood injury, the report and this website provide descriptions of the SAFE KIDS Coalitions and other organizations who work to prevent childhood injury.  There is also is a summary of the work of these coalitions in childhood injury prevention. Visit the Coalitions page to find out more about them.
