Updates on Injury and Violence Prevention InterventionsThis site contains downloadable *.pdf summaries of injury and violence prevention intervention efforts. These literature updates were prepared as a companion to the Handbook of injury and violence prevention, L. S. Doll, S. Bonzo, J. Mercy, & D. Sleet ( Eds.), Secaucus, NJ: Springer, and provide information about the scope and nature of the injury and violence prevention problem and also summarize key findings of prevention interventions with comments on their effectiveness. Most updates refer to additional on-line information on the subject and all of the updates contain extensive reference lists for further study. The specific summaries are related to preventing: child maltreatment, drowning, elder abuse, falls among older adults, intimate partner violence, motor vehicle injuries, parenting and preventing childhood injuries, residential fire injuries, sexual violence, sports and recreation-related injuries, suicidal behavior, and youth violence; and reducing misuse of firearms.
